Enjoy a Taste of Nature in NYC in These Luxurious Nature-Inspired Lobbies

Spring has finally sprung in New York City! However, in most residences there is little greenery beyond the parks. Here, we uncover some of the hottest buildings in NYC featuring green lobbies, amongst of other amenities.

Quay Tower

Located at Brooklyn Bridge Park, one of New York’s most celebrated expanses of greenery, Quay Tower allows residents to trade concrete confinement for a nature-centric lifestyle. Residents have access to all of what Pier 6 and the waterfront has to offer, including sand volleyball courts, a dog park, children’s playgrounds, gardens and open lawn space. The park itself feels like a part of the building, with floor-to-ceiling windows in the lobby offering expansive views of acres of greenery and the water. Designed by Marmol Radziner, the California-based interior design firm whose calling card is airy spaces made for indoor-outdoor living, Quay Tower’s lobby has the distinct feeling of being indoors and out at the same time.

Greenwich West

With 170 loft-style condominium residences, Greenwich West is one of the tallest new buildings in Manhattan's Hudson Square neighborhood. Located at 110 Charlton Street, Greenwich West rises 290 feet tall on New York's west side skyline and provides unprecedented views of the Hudson River, New York Harbor and Statue of Liberty. Among the several detailed design elements at Hudson Square’s hottest new residential building is a nature-friendly Viewing Garden designed by legendary French botanist, Patrick Blanc, who is also known as the creator of the vertical garden.

The Viewing Garden, also known as a green wall, is situated in the building’s courtyard reaching nearly 18 feet tall and 38.6 feet wide. Serving as a symbol of health and well-being, the garden showcases 99 artfully planted species creating a total of total of 102 bulbs in the design. A captivating wall of windows framing the double-height lobby provides residents with additional views of the Viewing Garden from inside the building.

Wall Jardim

Tucked away in Manhattan’s West Chelsea neighborhood, Jardim is the first U.S. residential development by Isay Weinfeld, the world-renowned Brazilian architect and interior designer known for his hotels and high-end homes, including the Fasano Hotels and the recently opened reincarnation of New York's iconic Four Seasons Restaurant. The Portuguese word for garden—Jardim—is a fitting name for this plant-filled property, which boasts an ultra-private urban park featuring a canopy of native evergreens and flowering trees that envelops the two 11-story towers that comprise the development. A wall of glass in the lobby offers views of this dense greenery, creating the feeling of an urban oasis as residents enter the building.

A first full-service newly built condominium in Crown Heights, 111 Montgomery features an inviting nature-inspired lobby to welcome residents home. Designed by Brooklyn-based Mesarch Studio, the lobby draws its inspiration from the neighboring 50-acre Brooklyn Botanic Garden–the century-old landmark and worldwide attraction adjacent to Prospect Park, known for its picturesque specialty gardens and cherry blossom trees. A doorman greets residents behind a custom blackened steel reception desk with pendant lighting by NY-based designer Rich Brilliant Willing, a Bower Studios mirror backdrop and a striking floor-to-ceiling live moss wall. The space is complete with concrete flooring, an elegant walnut inlay and finely articulated integrated lighting. 111 Montgomery offers 163 luxury homes to one of New York’s most storied and exciting communities with pricing starting under $550,000.

Arbor Eighteen

Arbor Eighteen is a new luxury condominium and urban sanctuary in Brooklyn’s Greenwood Heights neighborhood designed to help restore residents’ focus and energy levels after spending all day in the city. Dubbed as the borough's “healthiest" new development, the property is teeming with plant life as well as spa-like amenities to inspire a balanced and tranquil lifestyle. Residents can enjoy a curated arboretum on the ground floor, a private Zen garden overlooking the lobby and a roof deck that seamlessly blends into the surrounding treetops of Prospect Park and Green-Wood Cemetery.

The spaces are prime for meditation and invite residents to connect with nature on a daily basis. There is a state-of-the-art fitness center with a yoga studio, a dedicated meditation room and an infrared sauna also promoting wellness for stressed-out city dwellers. With prices starting at $550,000, the property offers an unprecedented “accessible luxury” lifestyle and is the first true high-end condo project in Greenwood Heights.
