The Spa Like Amenities You Didn't Know You Needed

In the buzzing Big Apple, people have long sought out meditation and yoga studios to help them cope with the stresses of everyday life. With the constant stresses that this city can bring upon people it can be a bit overwhelming and we all deserve a break. Now with wellness-oriented apartment buildings popping up all over the city, you wouldn’t even have to leave your home to find that kind of escape. These buildings allow residents to enjoy that ultimate luxury: a place to let go, relax and unwind from the pressures of the world without ever having to put on shoes. Sounds like a dream come true!!

These buildings offer everything from state-of-the-art gyms to cutting edge health technology. One such building, called Arbor 18 in Brooklyn, offer residents an infrared sauna with built-in chromotherapy, a designated meditation room and zen garden. And on the Lower East Side, a new tower called One Manhattan Square takes the wellness theme even further, with relaxation rooms, a zen teahouse, adult treehouse and a traditional Turkish hammam.

Having the luxury of a spa-at-home just became easier with these new state-of-the-art apartment buildings and their impressive wellness-oriented amenities. Improve your well-being while still being at home and indulge yourself to the world of relaxation.

CHROMOTHERAPY: Chromotherapy has been available at a few select spas, but now it is making its way into people's private homes; at Arbor 18, a brand new luxury condominium in Greenwood Heights, the building's sauna comes complete with an advanced chromotherapy built-in. Wintertime means more time indoors, and for many people, that lack of vital vitamin D can cause a form of depression called Seasonal Affective Disorder. One scientifically proven cure for SAD is chromotherapy, or different colored lamps that can replenish and rebalance the body's energy.

ICE ROOMS: 252 East 57th Street, a 65-story ultra-luxury condo on Billionaire’s Row, offers its residents a generous spa and wellness package with a hydrotherapy circuit spa as well as ice rooms with an experiential shower equipped with a cold rainspout and a Kneipp hose. This extreme experience cools the entire body creating a systemic boost and allows the body to warm up faster afterwards. Just three minutes in the ice room improves blood circulation as well as joint and muscle function with benefits effective for six months up to one year.

NFRARED SAUNAS: The Kent, a new art deco-inspired condominium on the Upper East Side, residents have exclusive access to the building’s infrared sauna as part of the building’s comprehensive fitness center, helping stave off illnesses that tend to crop up during winter. Infrared saunas, especially the far-infrared levels, allows the body to eliminate about seven times more toxins, optimizing your body’s functions and staving off illness. Infrared saunas also warm the body in the same way as natural sunlight.

HAMMAM: One Manhattan Square on the Lower East Side has over 100,000 square feet of amenities, including a full service spa with sauna, hammam steam room, cold plunge pool, tranquility garden and selection of curated relaxation services that can be ordered through the building’s concierge. The specialty hammam took inspiration from 14th Century Ottoman Empire hammans and interpreted that relaxation and ritual in modern way, with mood lighting, heated benches, and private recessed stone chambers.
