When ODA New York unveiled its design for the condo coming to the corner of First Street and Fourth Avenue in Park Slope, we wanted to know if the boxy, terraced building would improve the “canyon of mediocrity” that is Fourth Avenue. That has been, and remains tough to answer, but has at least been made less so now 251 First Street’s ditched its scaffolding. The building now gets the Field Condition treatment, showing off its glassy geometric facade.
The photos show there’s still work to be done, but things look like they’re running pretty on-time. Sales on the 44 condos launched from $1.3 million in May, and StreetEasy shows that out of 31 active sales, 26 condos are in contract at the average price of $1.725 million. The condos also come with access to some pretty Brooklyn 2017 amenities, like stroller and bike storage, a yoga room, and a landscaped courtyard.
Apartments in the buildings are sized for families or people who enjoy many extra rooms, with condos ranging in size from two to four bedrooms. Because of the building’s unique terraced shape, 33 of the apartments have individual floorplans.
251 First joins several other buildings like Baltic and 610 Warren on Brooklyn’s “canyon of mediocrity,” a nickname Fourth Avenue was stuck with after a glowering 2012 Wall Street Journal piece.
